'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Posh Weekly - 26-March-2014

<div style='background-color: #005abb;'><a href='' title='news'>headlines</a></div>

Vital Posh looks at the latest news coming out of Peterborough United over the past week and also what their rival teams in League One are up to.

There are now just four days until Posh take on Chesterfield in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium.

The match kicks off at 2pm on Sunday, 30th March and will see Posh backed by nearly 20,000 fans.

Tickets are no longer on sale but they can be purchased on the day at Wembley Stadium`s West Ticket Office (open from 10am and located on level B1).

Coach tickets are still available through foreverposh priced at 20 for members and 25 for non-members. Tickets are available until 5pm on Friday.

Posh will be wearing the special white away kit.

Posh suffered their fourth and fifth defeats of March after losing to play-off rivals Rotherham United and Preston North End.

The Millers match was a close affair decided by a dubious penalty although you would have to say the better team won on the day.

Posh then travelled to Darren Fergusons old team Preston North End but after taking the lead, some poor defending allowed the Lilywhites to score twice before wrapping up the goalscoring with a breakaway goal in added time.

The 3-1 scoreline was very flattering to the home side but it only emphasised the inconsistency and lack of concentration suffered by Posh throughout the majority of this season.

Former Posh midfielder Toumani Diagouraga, aka "Dave", has had his loan spell at Portsmouth cut short. He only joined Pompey in mid-February but the Bees did have a 24-hour call-back clause inserted in the deal which they`ve utilised. The Bees need to bolster their squad for the final run-in to the end of the season.

Russell Slade has criticised the Leyton Orient fans after they failed to get behind his side and booed his team off at both half-time and full-time. Posh fans would never do that!!

Wolves are edging clear at the top of the League after having a slight wobble when being held to a goalless draw with relegation threatened Shrewsbury Town and then suffering defeat at Crawley Town. They are back on track again after beating Colchester 4-2 last night.

Brentford look to be the team that Wolves need to worry about in their pursuit of the League title. They are four points behind Wolves but have a game in hand; they are also three points ahead of Leyton Orient with three games in hand!

Should any of those three teams slip up, both Rotherham United, who defeated Brentford 3-0 last night, and Preston North End will look to capitalise as they are still picking up wins on a regular basis.

The final play-off place is one that Posh don`t seem to want after suffering five defeats in their seven matches this month! MK Dons, Swindon and Walsall all don`t seem to want that last play-off place as their form has dipped recently as well.

Sheffield United have been creeping up the League and now sit in 10th place; seven points behind Posh but with a game in hand. They are the form side in the League at present and if they can keep the run going, they will go very close to claiming 6th place come the end of the season.

At the bottom, Stevenage have slumped to the bottom of the League again but it is getting very tight. There are just three points separating the bottom six teams with each team picking up points here and there, it`s certainly going to go down to the wire. Notts County moved off the bottom following their win over Crewe who find themselves one point but two places outside the relegation places. Shrewsbury and Carlisle make up the bottom four with Tranmere just outside the drop zone but only through having scored more goals than Carlisle. They both have a goal difference of -22!
