Peterborough United travel to the new Amex Stadium to face Brighton and their former star striker Craig Mackail-Smith.
Gus Poyet expects skipper Gordon Greer to be fit for Saturday's home league game against Peterborough United.
The Scottish defender was substituted with a slight calf strain during Albion's mid-week Carling Cup win over Sunderland. Poyet insists it was more of a precaution though.
'He complained that he started feeling his calf and I wasn't going to take any risks. I decided straight away there was no way I would try and leave him there with the possibility of extra time. Yesterday, it was confirmed that it was nothing serious so I'm very pleased.' Poyet told seagulls.co.uk
'He's the captain, he's the leader, he's the one who normally makes us play from the back so he's very influential. It also shows - if everything goes alright in the next couple of days - that we made the right decision to change him at half time.'
Romain Vincelot will miss out on Saturday's clash after suffering a dislocated shoulder against Sunderland.
Will Hoskins and Will Buckley will both be assessed ahead of the weekend and a decision will be made on their fitness on Friday.
There is only one player to watch during the game and it is last seasons leading marksmen in England who moved from Posh to the Seagulls in the summer.
CMS has already notched 3 goals this season including the vital goal against Sunderland on Tuesday.
Posh are expected to welcome back Gabby Zakuani following injury and with the return of striker Nicky Ajose, who featured on the subs bench during the midweek defeat by Middlesbrough, boss Darren Ferguson has decisions on who will be the unfortunate players that miss out on the seaside game.
It will be a tough decision for Fergie Jnr whether to include the returning players or whether they just start on the bench.
Young loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe who has impressed in each of his substitue appearances is champing at the bit for a starting berth.
Much could depend on the formation and tactics chosen by Fergie after he saw his midfield triangle stifled against a very good Middlesbrough team.
George Boyd has been an influential figure since he joined Posh and he is one of a number of players who pose a danger for opposition teams.
The last time these two teams met was last season when the Seagulls won 3-1.
For a look back at this match, go to...
GAVIN Ward took charge of the opening Posh game of last season, a 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers. He was also the man in the middle when Posh won 2-0 at Yeovil in February.
He`s officated at four Football League matches so far this season and issued 14 yellow cards and no red ones.
Brighton have had an unbeaten start to the season while Posh have suffered one defeat and one draw on their travels.
It will be a tough ask for Posh to get anything out of this game but I expect it to be an entertaining game with Brighton winning 2-1.
There is an international break coming up next weekend so the next fixtures are on 10th Septmber:
Bristol City v Brighton and Hove Albion
Peterborough United v Hull City
