After the glorious demolition of Newcastle, in the Carling Cup, and the dramatic fight back against Reading it`s a trip to Blackpool for Posh. Will it be a sunshine weekend for Posh or will the fixture see us all at sea?
After two wins in a matter of four days, confidence is obviously high in the camp and Darren Ferguson is already plotting a strategy that will see our poor start turn into a start we expected.
Speaking about what lies ahead, he remarked as follows to the local media,
'Everyone has been lively and upbeat all week because they were two big wins for us. It's been a good few days for the club and now we want to make it the perfect week by winning again.
'It will be a hard game as Blackpool have started the season well and they are very well-organised and hard to beat, but we will go there in a very positive frame of mind.
'The next two games are really important for us. If we can pick up six points we will have 13 points from 10 matches and that would have to be classed as a satisfactory start."
All together now - oh we do like to be beside the seaside…………..
Blackpool are managed by one of football`s great characters, Ian Holloway. Holloway, following in the shoes of Simon Grayson, who left to join Leeds United, will be without his hamstring victim, centre back Ian Evatt for the fixture.
He also has several others struggling in the shape of Ishmel Demontagnac, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Daniel Nardiello.
The former Fulham player has Championship pedigree after playing for Watford, Charlton and Birmingham previously. Signed for the Tangerines recently after deciding that Turkish football, after one game; wasn`t for him. Has pace in abundance so our defence will have to be on guard.
After two wins on the trot, say it again folks it did happen, Darren Ferguson will only be considering minor changes. The bulk of the team will stay as we expect it to and the only questions remain around the midfield area. Will Frecklington start of will Coutts, Batt and Whelpdale come into the picture?
Definitely out though is Charlie Lee who continues to struggle with an ankle injury. Here at Vital Posh we suspect that Darren will go with a starting eleven that won`t be too far removed from:-
Lewis, Martin, Zakuani, Morgan, Williams, Boyd, Diagouraga, Frecklington, Whelpdale, Mackail-Smith and Mclean.
Two goals in two games bode well for the striker. Can he keep his scoring run going with a goal at Bloomfield Road or will Blackpool coast to victory and keep him quiet?
The last time the two clubs clashed was back in April 2005 when Posh triumphed 1-0 leaving the tangerines all at sea.
On Saturday, Posh will be looking to keep a clean sheet for the first time this season. As for our hosts they`ve only conceded two goals at Bloomfield Road this season, 0-0 did I hear someone say?
This Posh fan reckons that come Saturday night we`ll all be celebrating on the 'Golden Mile` wearing 'Kiss Me Quick` hats after Posh notch up a win. The game may be a real rollercoaster ride but we have this feeling the ill wind blowing in from the Irish sea will leave Blackpool feeling more seasick than us. 2-1 to Posh!
