Portugal Come Calling

The Portugal national team have been keeping a close eye on a Peterborough United player and has called him up to their under 20`s side.

Leo Da Silva Lopes is a bit like marmite for Posh supporters, some like him, some don`t but what is certain his national side, Portugal, do like the look of him and have called him up for the first time to their under 20`s side.

The 19-year-old is close to 100 appearances for Posh after making his debut as a 16-year-old. The teenager only joined Posh after being spotted playing for Powerleague when he was just 15 and has played in numerous positions for the Posh first team since. When playing in a more natural midfield position, he has looked very promising at times and should be playing there more often rather than on the wing or in a wing-back position.

Da Silva Lopes will join up with his fellow under 20`s for the games against Germany and England later this month with the game against the Three Lions taking place at Manchester City`s ground the Etihad on the 27th March with the Germany game taking place five days before this.

His involvement in the international matches mean he will miss the Posh match at the ABAX Stadium against Tom Nicholls and his Bristol Rovers side (well, maybe not Nicholls as he is often found on the Pirates substitutes bench!).

Congratulations Leo. Hopefully this is the first of many appearances for your country.
