Venue: Montgomery Waters Meadow Stadium
Date: Saturday, 3rd March, 2018
Kick-off: 15:00pm

Should the match beat the wintry conditions, Posh will be playing their first match under new manager Steve Evans at Shrewsbury Town.

Posh sacked Grant McCann after last weekends draw at home to AFC Wimbledon, their fourth draw in a row, but they did win their second League game of 2018 under caretaker boss David Oldfield when beating Walsall two-one on a snowy ABAX Stadium pitch on Tuesday evening.

The Shrews are without doubt the biggest surprise package in the League, let alone League One, as many had them down as relegation favourites at the start of the season! Not only have they defied the odds but for the majority of the season, they`ve spent the time sitting on top of League One. Former Premier League sides Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic have gradually clawed their way up the table and currently sandwich the Shrews who are in second place.

Away from home, Posh are the draw specialists having drawn 8 of their 16 away League matches while only losing four times!

The Shrews have been very impressive at home this season winning 10 of their 16 League matches. They have only lost three League matches at home but if there is some hope for Posh, they lost two of those matches in February while drawing their other home League game last month!

Posh have had the upper hand over the Shrews over the last few years and you have to go back to the 2006/07 season to find the last time they beat Posh. Since then, Posh have beaten the Shrews seven times while drawing twice.

Earlier this season, Posh were the first side to beat the Shrews in the League when they won one-nil at the end of October. Marcus Maddison struck the only goal of the game after 14 minutes.

Last season, the two sides drew one-all at New Meadow. Gwion Edwards had given Posh a first-half lead but Ian Black levelled things eleven minutes into the second half. Just three minutes later Ryan Tafazolli was given his marching orders but Posh held on to earn a share of the points with goalkeeper Luke McGee pictured above turning out to be the Posh hero when saving a penalty.

Can Posh give Steve Evans a winning start or will the Shrews continue their impressive home form?
