MacAnthony Quashes Price Tag!

Peterborough United Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has quashed the priced tag quoted in rumours linking striker Jack Marriott to a host of Championship sides!

The midweek rumour linking 17-goal striker Jack Marriott to clubs including Aston Villa, QPR and Sunderland has been dismissed by Posh owner and Chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

The Daily Mail article quoted a figure of £2.5 million which at the time sounded very low and that was confirmed by MacAnthony who tweeted:

So MacAnthony doesn`t suggest than Marriott wouldn`t be sold, just that if he was, it would be for more than the figure suggested by the Daily Mail.

Any move would be excellent for Marriott but it would certainly put a major dent in the chances of Posh gaining promotion. Marriott is currently the only striker in the squad scoring on a regular occasion.

Idris Kanu and Ricky Miller have been flops in front of goal while Junior Morias started the season very impressively before suffering an injury that has kept him out of action ever since. Although Morias is expected back in a couple of weeks, Posh would surely need to keep Marriott and Morias but look to ship out Kanu on loan and Miller permanently while bringing in forwards that can actually challenge the M & M`s and score goals!
