Rate the Peterborough United players in the Vital Posh Man of the Match Poll for the Checkatrade Trophy match against Southend United which is now up and running.

Posh boss Grant McCann rested some key players for this clash with Anthony Grant and veteran defender Steven Taylor both having a much deserved rest.

Captain Jack Baldwin came in for Taylor while Jermaine Anderson replaced Grant although it was former captain Chris Forrester who played in Grant`s defensive midfield position and it looks like he may have found his form again!

Gwion Edwards got Posh off the mark after 16 minutes before a well worked goal saw Marcus Maddison finish right footed into the bottom corner of the net just after the hour mark.

Edwards and Jack Marriott were replaced shortly after the second goal with Ricky Miller and Idris Kanu coming on in their place. Marcus Maddison was also replaced a few minutes later with Danny Lloyd coming on.

Posh were reduced to 10-men with four minutes remaining and then to 9-men with two minutes remaining! No players were sent off but Leo Da Silva Lopes looked to have pulled hamstring and then defender Ryan Tafazolli had to be carried off after a defensive challenge on Theo Robinson looked to have done damage to his left leg which will need stitches.

The referee added eight minutes to the end of the match although he eventually played over 9 extra minutes but the Shrimpers couldn`t find a way through which means Posh move into the next round.
