The man in charge of the Sky Bet EFL League One match between Rochdale and Peterborough United is ROB LEWIS.

Referee Rob Lewis sends off Ricardo Santos for a second bookable offence v Chesterfield

Experienced official Rob Lewis will take charge of the clash between Rochdale and Posh at the Crown Oil Arena.

Lewis is one of a few officials who have split their time between officiating and being an assistant although there is one match Lewis would dearly love to forget!

He was the linesman in the Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur match in January 2005 but he missed this 'goal' which never was!

The Shrewsbury-based official has refereed five Posh matches during his career

The last Posh match he should`ve officiated was in January at Oldham but he had to be replaced by Michael Salisbury because of injury. It is now getting on for nearly two years since he was involved in a Posh match. That came just before Christmas in 2015 when Posh traveled up to Blackpool.

It wasn`t a happy occasion for Posh as they gave the Tangerines an early Christmas present by losing two-nil. Posh also picked up three of the five yellow cards shown during the match.

That defeat at Blackpool was the only defeat suffered by Posh with Lewis in the middle. Posh have won three of the other four matches although the Tangerines matches was the only match on the road for Posh!

Rochdale last had Lewis officiate them at Southend last season when they went down two-one thanks to a 90th minute Simon Cox goal. Both sides had a man sent off while Dale received three of the four yellow cards issued during the game.

Lewis has refereed seven Dale matches in total where he witnessed three Rochdale wins with two draws and two defeats.

So far this season, Lewis has officiated 12 matches issuing 31 yellow cards and 1 red card.

The last match Lewis officiated was on Tuesday evening when taking charge of the goalless draw between Oldham Athletic and AFC Wimbledon. Two yellow cards were shown during the match which were shared between the teams.

The assistant referees for the Dale v Posh clash are Richard Wigglesworth and David Benton. The fourth official is Chris Isherwood.
