AFC Wimbledon v Posh - Sky Bet EFL League One Predictions
Peterborough United get back to League action after two Cup matches when they travel to south London to face AFC Wimbledon. Can they continue where they left off when they last played a League match? What do you think the score?
AFC Wimbledon -Vs- Peterborough United
Venue: Cherry Red Records Stadium (aka Kingsmeadow Stadium)
Date: Sunday, 12th November, 2017
It`s a rare Sunday match for both AFC Wimbledon and Posh as they clash in front of the TV cameras.
The Dons are currently outside the relegation places on goal difference only and have won just two of their eight home League matches although those wins were against Doncaster Rovers (2-0) and Rotherham United (3-1). They`ve lost exactly half their home League matches so far.
They did win their last home match which came last weekend in the FA Cup against Lincoln City. A single Lyle Taylor strike in the seventh minute was enough to earn the Dons a place in round two.
Away from home, Posh started the season like a house on fire with storming 4-1 wins over Bristol Rovers and Northampton Town. Since those first two games, they`ve drawn three away matches and lost twice including their last away League match 2-1 at Scunthorpe United.
Just like the Dons have done, Posh also won their last match which was away at Cambridge United in the Checkatrade Trophy.
The two sides have only ever met on three occasions since the Dons were reformed following the theft of their identity!
The first time came in the EFL Cup in August last season which Posh won 3-2 at the ABAX Stadium. Former Posh midfielder Chris Whelpdale opened the scoring for the visitors before two goals in four minutes through Tom Nichols and Paul Taylor swung the tie in Posh`s favour. Lyle Taylor then levelled things but a 90th minute winner was struck by Nichols sending Posh through to the next round.
The other two clashes came in the League last season when the Dons won one-nil at the ABAX courtesy of a tenth minute goal from Tom Elliott while the only competitive match between the sides at the Kingsmeadow Stadium ended goalless.
Posh are currently in 8th place after moving up two places following their win over previously unbeaten League One leaders Shrewsbury Town. The Dons dropped down one place to 20th following their defeat at Charlton Athletic in their last League action.
Can Posh inflict their first League win over the Dons on Sunday?
