Peterborough United have completed the signing of Liam Shephard from Swansea City.





Posh have completed the signing of right-sided defender Liam Shephard after he successfully completed a trial.

The 22-year-old former Welsh Under 21 International went away with the Posh squad to Spain last week and played in the opening pre-season match at St Albans on Saturday claiming an assist on the first Posh goal.

Posh boss Grant McCann liked what he saw in training although he wanted to see him in match action before making any decision. Shephard obvious impressed enough in that 4-1 victory to be offered a two-year deal subject to International clearance from the Welsh FA. He will now wear the number 2 shirt.

"Liam is a good lad and a good character, he has bought into everything in the last few weeks and that was extremely important. He can operate in a couple of different positions and I am really happy that we have been able to get it done," McCann said.

Shephard has been on loan at Yeovil Town three times making 72 appearances, 64 of which came in Leagues One and Two. He scored one goal during his time at the Glovers but on his return to his parent club, Swansea City, at the end of last season, Shephard was released following the completion of his contract at the Premier League side.
