The results are in for the Vital Posh Player of the Season and the Positional Awards for 2016/2017. Who was the Peterborough United Loanee of the season?

All the main "positional" winners have now been announced with
Luke McGee, Ryan Tafazolli , Gwion Edwards and Tom Nichols picking up the goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and striker awards respectively.

Before we finally find out who the 2016/17 player of the season is, we take a look at the players Posh brought in on loan during the season.

Six players arrived at the ABAX Stadium, all offering different abilities to Posh. Goalkeeper Luke McGee was brought in back in August along with fellow Tottenham Hotspur player Nathan Oduwa. While McGee played 45 times for Posh, Oduwa found it difficult to get any playing time for Posh appearing just 8 times.

Winger Oduwa returned to Spurs when the initial loan period finished but Posh extended McGee`s loan until the end of the season.

Another player to arrive at Posh in August was a player they battled Barnsley with in trying to sign on a permanent deal in the summer. The Tykes won the battle but after seeing little match action for the newly promoted Championship side, Moncur asked to go out on loan and he swiftly arrived at Posh.

Moncur made a good impression when he first arrived but he found it harder and harder to get into the Posh first team much to the surprise of many Posh fans. He made just 15 appearances for the club, scoring three goals before he returned to his parent club.

Fast forward to January and we see three more players arrive on loan. With an injury to Jack Baldwin and the potential suspension of Michael Bostwick, Posh brought in central defender Dominic Ball from Rotherham United. Ball looked very competent in the heart of the Posh defence making six appearances scoring once.

Things turned sour very quickly though when Baldwin came back from injury as Ball found himself back on the bench immediately much to his dismay. Ball held "discussions" with Posh boss Grant McCann over player selections and formations, which didn`t go down well with the management resulting in the player being sent back to Rotherham!

The final two players to arrive on loan were well known by Posh fans. Winger Martin Samuelsen arrived at Posh fresh from a very disappointing loan at Championship side Blackburn Rovers, and striker Craig Mackail-Smith from League Two play-off chasing side Luton Town.

Sadly, that loan spell at Rovers for Samuelsen destroyed his confidence making him a shadow of the player Posh fans saw the season before. His confidence did eventually return but by that point it was so late in the season he soon found himself back at his parent club as Posh focused their matchday player selection on youngsters and players they hope would feature heavily next season. Samuelsen made 12 appearances for Posh scoring just one goal.

Mackail-Smith is a player we know all about and his arrival was the third time he`d been at Posh. His first stint saw him score 99 goals with the second time seeing a very unfit player struggling with form and who failed to score.

This time, Mackail-Smith arrived from the Hatters and who had been finding it difficult to get into the starting eleven for the League Two side! He had not long come back from another injury before joining Posh so many fans weren`t too optimistic that he could fire Posh to the play-offs.

Sadly the Posh fans were right but Mackail-Smith did prove to everyone that he was once again fit and even if CMS wasn`t the player we once had, we were all hoping that he`d finally notch his 100th goal for the club. He made 18 appearances and not only did he score that century goal but he ended the season on 104 goals for the club.

Mackail-Smith was one of two players to receive votes in this category but he only registered 8.33 % which means the winning player which 91.67% of the votes and pick up the loanee of the season is LUKE McGEE:
