Ref Watch: Peterborough United v Fleetwood Town
The man in charge of the Sky Bet EFL League One match between Peterborough United and Fleetwood Town is EDDIE ILDERTON.
Posh welcome a very experienced official on Easter Friday when Eddie Ilderton takes charge of the clash with Fleetwood Town.
Ilderton made his Football League debut almost 15 years ago and in that time has refereed nine Posh matches and six Cod Army matches. Both sides have lost more games than they have won when Ilderton has been the man in the middle! Posh have won just two matches under Ilderton with the Cod Army winning just one game!
It`s been three and a half years since Ilderton last officiated a Posh match though. A single Nathaniel Mendez-Laing goal in the 64th minute won the match for Posh while Ilderton kept his cards in his pocket all match.
Many Posh fans will remember a memorable League One encounter in front of the television cameras which had Ilderton as the match official. That match in February 2011 was at London Road, ended four-all and included four converted penalties!
Rickie Lambert scored one in both halves for the visitors Southampton with current Posh boss Grant McCann and Lee Tomlin successfully converting from the spot in the second half. Five yellow cards were issued in that match with four going to the visitors.
The Cod Army had Ilderton for the first time in October 2013 when they hosted Crewe Alexandra in the Johnstones Paint Trophy. Fleetwood comfortably won the match four-nil with the opening goal coming from former Posh striker David Ball. Five yellow card were issued in the match with four going to the Cod Army.
Ilderton has already officiated Fleetwood this season at the end of January when Southend United went away with a point following a one-all draw. They nearly took all three points away with them until that man again, David Ball, nicked a point with a goal in the 90th minute. Five more yellow cards were shown in the match but only two of them went to the Cod Army this time.
So far this season, Ilderton has officiated just 16 matches, issuing 49 yellows and three red cards!
The last match he took charge of last weekend when play-off chasing Exeter City hosted relegation threatened Newport County. In a shock result, County went away with a one-nil victory while they collected both yellow cards shown in the match.
The last League One match Ilderton officiated came the previous Saturday at Bolton. The match ended goalless but the visitors picked up all four yellow cards and had Jon Nolan sent off in the 90th minute!
His statistics for the last few seasons in the Football League are:
2016/17 - 16 matches - 2 home wins - 4 away wins - 10 draws
2015/16 - 32 matches - 12 home wins - 7 away wins - 13 draws
2014/15 - 35 matches - 9 home wins - 12 away wins - 10 draws
Card Tally For Last Few Seasons:
2016/17 - Games 16 - Yellow 49 - Red 3
2015/16 - Games 32 - Yellow 71 - Red 4
2014/15 - Games 31 - Yellow 98 - Red 2
His matches involving Posh and Fleetwood Town to date are:
Posh - 9 matches - 2 wins - 3 draws - 4 defeats
Cod Army - 6 matches - 1 win - 3 draws - 2 defeats
The assistant referees for this match will be Lisa Rashid and Ian Smedley. The fourth official is Nick Hopton.
