No Interest In Luke James From Posh

Hartlepool United manager Colin Cooper has confirmed Posh have no current interest in his striker Luke James.

Luke James - Hartlepool United

After losing star striker Britt Assombalonga just days before the season kicked off, there was a lot of speculation that Posh were trying to sign Hartlepool`s teenage striker Luke James as his replacement. Even 'Pools fans believed Posh had put in a bid of 750,000 but all this has been quashed by Colin Cooper who confirmed no bid had been received from any club.

"I have spoken with Darren Ferguson and he has not expressed any interest," said Cooper to SportMail. "That doesn`t mean he doesn`t like him and doesn`t mean he doesn`t watch him, or hasn`t watched him.

"I had a conversation manager to manager with Darren Ferguson and he has not made a bid for Luke James. I had a chat with Darren Ferguson because I felt that other people were making something out of it so I just I phoned him and I asked if there was anything going on?

"He said nothing, nothing as far as he is concerned."

That doesn`t mean Posh won`t mount a bid for the player in the future but for now it looks like James isn`t the player Posh are hoping to recruit.

So who could Posh be looking at? Quite often it is a name few people have mentioned as was the case with Britt Assombalonga and Dwight Gayle.

Could it be someone like Guisborough striker Danny Johnson who scored 56 goals in 51 appearances last season? Or could we look to the loan market and go for someone like James Wilson from Manchester United?

Have you heard any rumours regarding potential targets?
