Peterborough United have signed Southampton youngster Lloyd Isgrove on loan for the remainder of the season.

Lloyd Isgrove signs on loan from Southampton

The 21-year-old midfielder completed his first ever loan signing by agreeing to stay at Posh for the remainder of the season. The deal can be extended should Posh reach the play-offs. He is also eligible to play in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy Final against Chesterfield at Wembley on 30th March.

Isgrove has been with 'The Saints` since he was nine-years-old and made his senior debut for the club in a Capital One Cup tie Leeds United as a substitute in 2012-13. He made his full debut in the same competition against Barnsley earlier this season. He will go straight into the Posh squad for tomorrows [Saturday, 15th March clash against MK Dons.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson is pleased to have the Welsh under-21 international on board as he said: "Lloyd is something a bit different. He is very quick, can play either side on the wing or in the hole if we played the diamond formation. He will beat a man both ways, he brings something different to what we have got.

"He has plenty of pace. I have looked at what we are going to need from now until the end of the season and with Danny Kearns going out on loan, I felt we needed something different to what we have already got in the squad and I am pleased to get him in the building."

Isgrove is also excited about getting first team action under his belt: "This is my first loan spell away from Southampton so it is a big move for me. I am really looking forward to the challenge.

"I have come here to play games. I am here to the end of the season and hopefully I can contribute. The club are fighting for promotion and have a Wembley date to look forward to, it would be great to be a part of that."
