Vital Posh JANUARY Player of the Month (Poll)

The next Player of the Month Poll is now up and running for January 2014.

January was a busy month with five league matches and two FA Cup matches which finished with two wins, one draw and four defeats.

The month started with a 3-1 home defeat by the potential League One champions Brentford and ended with a disappointing 5-4 defeat at Oldham Athletic.

The month also saw Posh bow out of the FA Cup following defeat to non-League Kidderminster Harriers in a replay at London Road.

The only real bright spots to the month was the third win of the season over Tranmere Rovers and a come from behind 4-3 win over 10-man Notts County. Britt Assombalonga also hit his 20th goal of the season.

Assombalonga [pictured above] finished the month on five goals from the seven matches with fellow strike partner Nicky Ajose notching five goals as well.

Posh sat in fifth place at the start of the month, ten points behind leaders Brentford but only three points ahead of Port Vale who sat in 7th place. By the end of the month, Posh had dropped out of the play-off places and sat in 7th place. They were level on points with Rotherham and Walsall who occupied the two places immediately above Posh but they were now 14 points behind Brentford.
