Ref Watch: Peterborough v Tranmere

The man in charge of the Sky Bet League One match between Peterborough United and Tranmere Rovers is MICHAEL NAYLOR.

Michael Naylor

Lee Tomlin won`t have fond memories of referee Michael Naylor as he was the referee that failed to act on the awful tackle on Tomlin in the Sunderland match earlier this season which resulted in the attacking midfielder going off injured and missing the next six Posh matches!

With Tomlin off injured, Posh lost their way and eventually went down 2-0 to their Premiership hosts.

That was only the third match Posh have had Naylor as the man in the middle. The first time was back in the 2010/11 season when Posh defeated Exeter City 3-0 in League One thanks to two goals from George Boyd and one from Craig Mackail-Smith. The next time was the following season (2011/12) when Posh travelled to the Welsh capital and then travelled home again following a 3-1 defeat. Cardiff scored three 1st half goals with Posh replying thanks to a 90th minute Paul Taylor goal.

Naylor is in his fourth full season as a football league referee and has refereed Tranmere three times. Rovers have won one of these matches, drawing one and losing one.

The last time the South Yorkshireman refereed Rovers, they lost 1-0 at home to MK Dons. Stephen Gleeson scored the only goal of the game three minutes from time while three yellow cards were issued during the game. Two of them went to the home side while Alan Smith picked up the sole yellow card for the plastic Dons.

So far this season, Naylor has issued 27 yellow cards in the 15 games he`s refereed while showing one red card to Nottingham Forests Djamel Abdoun in the 35th minute of their 1-0 home defeat to Blackpool!

His last match came on Tuesday night when he took charge of the goalless draw between Burnley and Watford. Two yellow cards were shown in the match with both of them going to Hornets players.

The assistant referees for this match will be David Avent and David Rock. The fourth official is Alan Young.
