Vassell Signs For Undisclosed Fee!

It is no surprise that Bishops Stortford striker Kyle Vassell has signed for Posh but it is a surprise that it is a permanent signing!

Kyle Vassell signs on loan from Bishops Stortford

Bishops Stortford hotshot Kyle Vassell said farewell to the Skrill South team after playing for them for the last time in their weekend defeat by Northampton Town.

The 20-year-old, who has scored 16 times already this season suffered a dead leg and was replaced in the second half of the Cobblers match and was undergoing treatment at London Road this morning.

In a surprising twist, Posh were able to sign Vassell permanently due to the level he was playing at rather than signing him on loan and making it permanent in January. He has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract at London Road.

"I`m looking forward to a new challenge. You get chances in life and you have to take them," he said to the Herts & Essex Observer.

"I need to try myself at a higher level and see what I can do and try to enjoy it as much as I have here."

Vassell has high hopes of progressing further just as Dwight Gayle, who many have compared him with, has done. "I don`t mind the comparison with Dwight. Peterborough`s track record of dealing with non-league players, strikers in particular, is second to none. Don`t get me wrong, it`s a great level for me to play at and a great opportunity, but I don`t see myself finishing there.

"So going to a great club like that with a track record of moving players on as well, it`s ideal for someone like me.

"There`s a good manager there, it`s a good club with good fans and it`s not a million miles away, so I`m not too far from my family and friends, which is important."

Vassell is keen to get started at Posh but is disappointed he can`t be involved in tomorrow nights [Tuesday 12th November] match with Dagenham & Redbridge in the quarter final of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy due to the dead leg he picked up in the FA Cup match.

"Yesterday was a bit upsetting that I had to get a dead leg as I wanted to be involved tomorrow but it probably won`t happen now.

"I`ve been at a few teams where I`ve been pushed out wide and it`s never really worked out but at Stortford it did. I played where I wanted to play, I played well and I`m always comfortable on the ball especially in front of goal. I`ve always said I`ll be confident in myself in scoring goals.

"I know what I`ve got to do. I`ve got to come here and work hard. Keep the same focus that I had at Stortford, same level of integrity as well.
