What are the Peterborough United manager and players saying about the upcoming match with Preston North End?
For the third League match in a row, Posh face an unbeaten League team. This time it`s Darren Ferguson`s former club Preston North End who are on a 9 game unbeaten run with five wins on the bounce!
"They have a manager who has done very well in this division. He clearly knows what it takes to get out of League One after winning promotion three times and I`m sure that is what Preston looked at when giving him the job.
"I`m sure Preston will be up there challenging for promotion along with the teams we beat last month. It goes without saying that we will have a tough game against a team going well.
"We came through a very tough September very well. We would have loved to collect all 12 available points but finishing the month with 10 was a decent return.
"Now it a case of starting the new month in good style with a third game on the bounce against an unbeaten team - and hopefully we can come out with the same result as in the last two.
"We are getting to the point where the table takes shape. We will have played for 30 points after tomorrow`s game and I will be very pleased if have 25 on the board.
"My players are well aware that there are elements of our performances which we need to improve on and hopefully that can happen tomorrow.
"We`ve freshened them up after a tough spell of games and gone a bit easy on them this week. We have focused on technical stuff and haven`t really done any conditioning work at all."
Midfielder Danny Kearns has missed a couple of games through injury but made his comeback against one of the teams he starred at whilst on loan last season: "It was good to be back," Kearns stated. "Especially at Rotherham where I enjoyed my time last season. It`s a great stadium and an excellent pitch."
Kearns was unfortunate last season picking up an injury in pre-season after showing some excellent form but he knew he just had to knuckle down: "I wasn`t worried by going on the transfer list. Instead I just concentrated on working hard on my fitness before I returned for pre-season training. I came back very fit and I`ve reaped the rewards for that work."
Captain Tommy Rowe also missed a game through injury but is slowly getting back to match fitness: "The injury hasn`t helped me spring forward like I can, but I`m close to 100 per cent fit now and hopefully I will be able to join in a few more attacks.
"I`ve been happy to help the side even though I`ve had a few niggles. You have to be prepared to play through a bit of pain to help the team."
With the suspension to Mark Little and Nat Knight-Percival along with the careful re-introduction to first team life to Kgosi Ntlhe, Rowe has found himself moved back into defence: "The move to full-back doesn`t bother me at all. When the manager said I might have to play there for a few weeks he actually said it would help me get more involved in attacks.
"I had a bit of success last season playing left-back and left wing-back so it`s a move I`m happy to make.
"I didn`t get forward very much at Rotherham as they were on top for most of the game, but I`m sure that will change.
"It`s fair to say our results have been better than our performances in the last couple of games, but to be where we are in the league knowing we can play much better is encouraging."
