Disappointing Debut For McDonald

Young Peterborough United striker Shaq McDonald had a debut to forget for Chester City.

Posh on Tour - Day 3 - UCD v Posh - Shaq McDonald

There was great anticipation at Chester City with the arrival of the very promising Posh striker Shaq McDonald on loan and it wasn`t just from Chester fans as Posh fans were keen to see how he does.

The 17-year-old has yet to make his Posh debut but scored an endless number of goals for the Posh youths and reserves last season.

After a plea by Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony on twitter, Chester took up the offer of taking the young striker on loan for three months and he was signed just in time to play at Salisbury on Saturday. Unfortunately, his debut is one he will probably want to forget.

McDonald came on in the 67th minute with his new side having just gone 2-1 behind. Salisbury increased their lead later in the game before a number of incidents occurred during the match.

Firstly the match had to be stopped when a parachutist landed on the pitch!! When the match did restart, the home side were soon reduced to 10 men when former Reading centre back Angus MacDonald was sent off for grabbing Gareth Seddon around the neck.

Shaq McDonald`s debut lasted until the 95th minute but that wasn`t when the referee blew for full time! Shaq appeared to kick Jamie Clarke in the last minute of added time and was shown a red card.

Was it inexperience? Frustration? Adrenalin fuelled over-enthusiasm? Only Shaq can say but what he has already done is to appologice for his sending off as he said: "I apologise for my sending off, I promise it won't happen again but it's a learning curve for me so I just got to keep my head up."

It will certainly be a learning curve for the youngster who will definitely learn from this experience and will hopefully go on and score a hatful of goals for Chester during his loan.
