The Vital Posh Man of the Match Poll is now up and running for the Sky Bet League One match between Peterborough United and Oldham Athletic.
This was perhaps Posh`s worst performance of the season so far but they still managed to come away win a win…just!
Posh were poor right from the off but credit has to go to Oldham. They got the ball down and played some decent football. Tricky winger Cristian Montano caused Craig Alcock problems all afternoon before Mark Little replaced the right back before he got sent off by the awful referee. Alcock was on the end of two wrong refereeing decisions with the second earning him a yellow card!!
Montano didn`t endear himself to the home crowd with his battle with Alcock or his gestures towards the crowd! He should leave his talking to on the pitch as he is a talented player.
Record signing Britt Assombalonga [pictured below] broke the deadlock in what could be described as slightly against the run of play but it was a cracking goal. He collected the ball just inside the Latics half, beat his man then rifled a shot from at least 25 yards into the corner of the net.
Lee Tomlin had a very poor game and only came alive after Grant McCann had left the pitch and he was switched to the right side of midfield. Is this a sign of things to come after his rejected transfer request?
Tomlin did get his name on the score sheet though as he converted a penalty after the referee, wrongly in our opinion, adjudged the keeper to have brought down Britt Assombalonga.
Defensively, Michael Bostwick was having an excellent game and snuffed out many threats from the likes of Rooney and Montano. He couldn`t do anything to stop Oldham from scoring in added time though after a quality ball was curled into the box which was met by the head of Charlie MacDonald.
A disappointing performance from Posh but a win is a win no matter how you play. What did you think to the players performance?
