Peterborough United 1 - 0 Sheffield Wednesday
Location: London Road
Date: 27th April, 2013
Attendance: 13,938

It wasn`t the most enjoyable of matches to watch but that may also have been down to the nerves of both players and fans but there was one player who stood out and that was the experienced Grant McCann. McCann picked up the sponsors man of the match award (you can vote for your Vital Posh man of the match on the right hand side of this page) and he came in for praise from his boss: 'Great players always perform in the big games and Grant does that for us," said Darren Ferguson after the match.

'We've done our job this weekend but we have another big one to do next weekend. I've felt for a while that it would go all the way to the final day of the season and that's how it has panned out.

'We're in a good position in so much as we know that if we match Barnsley's result, we'll stay up. I've got a fantastic bunch of lads and have never once questioned their commitment. Yes, they make the odd mistake, but they are only human.'

Posh Chairman Darragh MacAnthony was also happy following the final whistle: 'What an amazing League this is. A very resilient win from our lads under pressure today. So proud of them. One win to go!

'Brilliant from Posh crowd in the final home game. Well done!! Proper support!'

Popular Posh centre-back Gaby Zakuani was also full of praise for the Posh fans: 'Get in there!! Amazing support again, it will be needed again next week. Remember we've achieved nothing yet. Same again boys #pufc'.

Posh fans also took to Twitter with delight after the win:

@TomLea_ 'Can't explain how happy I am, what a win! #pufc #wearestayingup'

@GaryRenno 'Quality battling performance - but how stupid are we gunna look if we go down now after that pitch invasion'

@Poshette_jrx 'What a bloody fantastic result, absolutely buzzing!! So proud of the team, biggest 3 points of the season gained!!'
