Posh Back In For Pope?

Are Peterborough United looking to snatch Tom Pope from Port Vale ahead of the transfer deadline?

National newspapers are reporting that Posh boss Darren Ferguson is keen to do a late deal for the Vale forward who has scored 27 goals so far this season.

Pope was linked with Posh a while ago but Darragh MacAnthony, the Posh Chairman, played down any rumours that Posh were interested.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season though and media reports suggest Posh have rekindled their interest and are close to securing a deal. His current deal with Vale had a clause built in which offered the forward an extension when he hit his 15th goal of the season but he has yet to agree a deal.

The reports say Posh are hoping to get Pope for a cut-price 50,000 which would be worth a punt given Posh have now slumped back to the bottom of the Championship and may not have to pay massive wages to bring the player in.
