Ref Watch: Bristol City v Posh

The man in charge of the npower Championship match between Bristol City and Peterborough United is ANDY MADLEY.

Andy Madley

Madley, from Wakefield, is yet another rookie referee who is in his second full season as a Football League referee.

Despite only refereeing 45 Football League matches, he has refereed Posh on two occasions. The first came last season when Posh lost 1-0 away at Hull City in a game which saw two yellow cards issued to the home side. The second time was this season in Posh`s first home match of the season which saw them lose again, this time to Millwall. The match ended 2-1 to the visitors on goals and in yellow cards!

The two Posh matches were two of only four Championship matches Madley has refereed.

Hopefully the Bristol match will be third time lucky for Posh as they seek to win a fourth match on the bounce following impressive wins over Cardiff, Bolton and Wolves.

The Robins have yet to have Madley officiate one of their matches but they have had his brother, Robert, officiate one of their matches last season.

Andy Madley has officiated 17 matches this season showing 49 yellow cards while his red card has been left at home every week.

His last match was just before Christmas when he oversaw Walsall beat Colchester 1-0. Three yellow cards were shown, all of which went to the visitors from Essex.

His last Championship match came towards the end of October when he officiated the Ipswich v Derby match which ended 2-1 to the visitors. Three yellow cards were issued in that match with two of them going to the home side.

The assistant referees for the Bristol City v Posh match are Marvyn Amphlett and Christopher Powell. The fourth official is Justin Amey.
