Ref Watch: Brighton v Posh

The man in charge of the npower Championship match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Peterborough United is JAMES ADCOCK.

Adcock, from Long Eaton in Nottinghamshire, is a relative rookie having taken charge of his first Football League match in February 2011!! He is rapidly rising up the football league though.

Although Brighton and Posh have yet to experience Adcock, two of Posh`s current players featured in his first ever League match. That match finished 1-0 to Wycombe but it will be remembered more for the sending off of 3 players at the end including Posh`s Emile Sinclair!! Tyrone Barnett was also in the Macclesfield side that day while former Posh forward Scott Rendell was in the Wycombe side.

He refereed almost exclusively in the lower divisions last season but did get one Championship game between Barnsley and Millwall at Oakwell in January this year. He refereed a total of 33 games last season issuing 87 yellow cards and six red cards.

This season, he's already refereed 15 matches with three of those being Championship games. He returned to Barnsley to referee their 1-0 win against Middlesbrough on the opening weekend of the season before taking charge of the Hull v Millwall with the Humberside team coming out 4-1 winners. His third Championship match was two weeks ago when he took charge of that "unbeaten" team Huddersfield who beat Wolves 2-1.

So far, there have been 41 yellow cards and just the two red cards issued this season by Adcock. The players sent off were Hartlepool's Neil Austin in a 2-1 home defeat against Carlisle and Rochdales on-loan Robert Grant during their goalless draw with Bradford.
.
Adcock's last game came last Friday in the FA Cup First Round when taking charge of the goalless draw between Cambridge City and MK Dons. No cards were shown in that match.

The assistant referees for the Brighton v Posh match are Darren Blunden and Matt Foley. The fourth official is Carl Brook.
