Ref Watch - Hull City v Peterborough United

The man in charge of the npower Championship match between Hull City and Peterborough United is MICHAEL OLIVER.

The Premiership referee takes charge of his first Championship match this season after taking charge of 5 Premiership matches so far. He has averaged 2 yellow cards per game while he has only got his red card out of his pocket once this season.

At only 27 years old, Oliver became the youngest referee to take charge of a Premiership match in 2010 when he refereed the Birmingham v Blackburn match - which is now a Championship fixture.

Posh will be hoping their unbeaten record with Oliver in charge of their games continues. Oliver, who started refereeing at the age of 14, took charge of Posh twice last season. He oversaw Posh`s 2-2 draw away at Millwall early in the 2011/12 season issuing three yellow cards - one to Millwall and one to Lee Tomlin and Posh substitute Paul Taylor.

His second match in charge of Posh last season saw Posh beat neighbours Leicester City 1-0. He issued three cards again in that match but only one to Posh this time. That went to defender Craig Alcock while Leicester`s Kasper Schmeichel and David Nugent both received yellow cards.

In fact, the last League game Posh won was the Leicester match last season so could Oliver be a good omen?

Surprisingly, it will be the Northumberland based referees first visit to Hull having never refereed Hull City.
