Manchester United lose to Posh

A Manchester United XI went down 2-0 to Peterborough United on Friday evening [10th August].

Peterborough United hosted a young Manchester United team in their final pre-season match before the first competitive game of the season finally arrives on Tuesday when Posh host Southend in the Capital One Cup.

The result was hardly surprising as the Red Devils side was virtually unknown outside of Old Trafford.

Only the likes of Ryan Tunnicliffe, who spent part of last season playing in a Posh shirt, a one-match hero in Federico Machede and recent multi-million pound signing from Crew, Nick Powell, were the only recognised names!

The Posh side was once again a mixture of senior and young players so despite the next game being the first match that means anything, Posh still haven't played what is expected to be their starting line-up in any of their pre-season matches!

Yet again though, Posh picked up yet another injury. This time it was million pound striker Tyrone Barnett that is now on the ever increasing injury list!

The match was goalless at half time but two second half strikes, the first a 25 yard deflected screamer from George BOYD following a pass by Swanson, and the second a neat finish from former Red Devil Nicky AJOSE settled the tie in Poshs favour.

Posh have their first 'proper' match on Tuesday, 14th August when they entertain Southend in the Capital One Cup.
