Peterborough United -Vs- Aston Villa
Venue: London Road
Date: 1st August, 2012
Kick-off: 7:45pm

Premiership side Aston Villa visit the Posh on Wednesday night as they look for another win in their pre-season campaign.

Villa travel to London Road as they continue their pre-season preparation, and could include a new, International, centre back in their line up.

TEAM NEWS

Peterborough United

Posh are still without the injured forwards Dave Hibbert, Emile Sinclair and full backs, Tommy Rowe and Craig Alcock for the game against Villa. But Kgosi Nthle and Michael Richens are both expected to get more playing time, as Fergie weighs up his options in the left back position, ahead of the season opener at Leicester.

Ferguson has a choice to make at centre back, with Nat Knight-Percival and Shaun Brisley battling it out for the place next to captain, Gaby Zakuani. Bobby Olejnik will again start in goal, with young keeper Joe Day, the second choice stopper for the coming season.

Youngsters Joe Newell, Peter Grant, James Sage and Dan Lawlor, could all play some part in the fixture, as Ferguson continues to give his young players as much first team action as possible.

Forward, Jonson Clarke-Harris, could feature in the first team for the first time against Villa, but only if he`s passed fit, as he continues to return from an injury sustained during his time at Coventry City.

Posh legend, David Farrell, is set to play some part in the fixture, to mark what was an incredible career for the left winger. He played for Posh, and Villa in his time as a footballer, and it will be a great night for him, regardless of the score.

Vital Posh predicts the starting line-up could be:

Olejnik

Richens   Zakuani   Knight-Percival   Nthle

Swanson   Bostwick   McCann   Boyd

Taylor   Barnett

Aston Villa

Dutch International centre back, Ron Vlaar, could make his debut for Villa on Wednesday if he completes his transfer from Feyenoord in time.

Paul Lambert is expected to use most, if not all, of his squad for the game, so he can assess his options ahead of their new premier league season.

PREDICTION

Aston Villa will prove very tough opposition, and they will see this as a game they should be winning. But the Posh players will also want to give the home fans something to cheer about, as the new season fast approaches.

Vital Posh predicts an open game, ending in a 3 - 2 loss.
