Mystery Teenager Identified

Mystery Teenager Identified

The mystery teenager signed by Peterborough United has been identified.

Although Posh are unable to confirm his identity until 30th June due to contractual reasons, the Peterborough Telegraph and Coventry Telegraph have had confirmation from a source close to Coventry City that Jonson Clarke-Harris is the player Posh have signed.

It was widely rumoured that Clarke-Harris could be the mystery player although it is another player who has had his troubles off the field. Darren Ferguson will have to take him under his wing just as he did with striker Paul Taylor.

17 year-old Clarke-Harris was released by Coventry City at the end of last season following a serious breach of club discipline, but there is no doubt he has talent on the pitch.

A quick and powerful centre-forward, he is the youngest-ever Coventry first-team player having appeared in a Carling Cup tie at Morecambe in August 2010 aged 16 years and 21 days. He was also a prolific goalscorer for Coventry`s Academy teams.

Clarke-Harris had trials with Blackburn, Stoke and Birmingham before agreeing to sign for Posh.

The Peterborough Telegraph source said: "Jonson is strong, quick and a natural finisher. He had his problems off the field, but there is no doubt he is a talented footballer. Peterborough have picked up a gifted goalscorer."

Chairman Darragh MacAnthony had said earlier this month on twitter: ""It`s a young gem with bundles of potential in years to come.

"He is a prolific goal scorer, but one for the future, although that could change if he impresses out in Portugal on training camp.

"There will be no pressure on the lad though as he is only 18 and will be given time."
