Lewis Joins Bluebirds

Former Peterborough United goalkeeper Joe Lewis has joined fellow Championship side Cardiff City.

He will officially join the Bluebirds from 1st July when he becomes a free agent having refused to sign a new contract with Posh.

The 6ft 6in keeper joined Posh 4 years ago from Norwich City and has been part of the Posh team that has risen up the leagues to the Championship. In his time at Posh, he has experienced 3 promotions and 1 relegation.

The former England Under-21 player has made almost 190 appearances for Posh. He was also called up to the senior England team when they toured the Caribbean a couple of years ago but he didn't make any appearances.

Lewis will rival David Marshall for the goalkeeping duties. Marshall was Cardiff boss Malky Mackay's preferred choice between the sticks in the league last season and the Scotland international has recently signed a new three-year deal.

Cardiff needed to strengthen their goalkeeping options after releasing Tom Heaton earlier this month. Heaton was rumoured to be interesting Posh but with Posh confirming they have put a bid in for a goalkeeper, it effectively rules Heaton out.

Vital Posh wishes Joe all the best in his new venture in the capital of Wales.
