Scottish Midfielder Heading To Posh

Dundee United`s out of contract midfielder Danny Swanson is heading to Peterborough United for talks.

The 25 year-old is looking for a new challenge having come to the end of his contract at Dundee United and he is keen is come down to England: "It`s time for me to make a fresh start and I fancy playing in England now so I will talk to any club that shows an interest and take it from there."

Swanson has suffered from injuries over the past couple of years and only managed 16 first-team appearances last season!

He has played 107 times for the Tannadice club and scored 12 goals during his four years there. He was selected for Scotland for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Spain and Liechtenstein in 2011 but was forced to pull out of the squad after suffering medial knee ligament damage. It was the first time he`d been called up by the national team.

His career has been blighted by injury and suspensions but when injury free, he has been a very useful squad member.

The 2010 Scottish FA Cup winner is certainly interested in Peterborough and it`s connections with a certain family: "I`m out of contract now so there`s nothing to stop me coming down. I`d certainly be interested in anything Peterborough have to say and it would probably be interesting playing for a member of the Ferguson family!

"My agent has been busy fixing things up for me and I am planning to swing by Peterborough some time this week.

"I have a few clubs interested in me, mostly in the Championship, but also a couple in the Premier League."

Swanson certainly looks as if he`s got potential and experience but the only concern is his injury record. Would we want another Lee Frecklington scenario at Posh who misses most Posh games due to injury?
