Peterborough United v Blackpool - Form Guide

Vital Posh looks at the form of both Peterborough United and Blackpool ahead of the npower Championship clash at London Road.

Posh produced arguably their worst performance of the season on Tuesday night when they waved the white flag after only four minutes to fellow relegation battlers Millwall, eventually suffering a 3-0 defeat in front of a pathetically low crowd of just over 6,200!

Blackpool were also on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat on Tuesday as mid-table outfit Derby County won on home soil.

Peterborough United

Posh are on a poor run of just one win in eleven League matches. Fortunately for Posh, their earlier season form has seen them stay safely in mid-table for the majority of the season but they are definitely showing relegation form at the moment and are just nine points clear of the relegation places.

With only one win at home this year, Posh will be looking to find their form against high flyers Blackpool.

So far this season at home, Posh have won seven, drawn two and lost seven. They have netted 31 times at London Road while conceding 28 goals.

Skipper Grant McCann and striker Paul Taylor are the leading scorers for Posh this season with 8 League goals each. Emile Sinclair and Lee Tomlin are just behind them on seven goals. Poshs million pound striker Tyrone Barnett (pictured below) has 14 League goals but 13 of those were scored for Crawley Town.

Posh are somehow still in 18th place with 38 points from 34 games. Fergies 50 point target looks a long way off after recent performances but with teams beneath them also losing on a regular basis, Posh may not need as many as 50 points to survive this season. However, Posh do need to start playing like they did earlier in the season if they are to confirm their survival sooner rather than later.

Tuesdays defeat by Millwall also saw Posh clocked up another game with goals. They have now played 109 League games since playing in a no score draw!!

Blackpool

Having been relegated from the Premiership last season, Blackpool are looking to return at the first opportunity. They are currently in 5th place with 56 points from 35 games.

The Seasiders have an even away record with six wins, six draws and six defeats. They have scored the most amount of goals away from home in the Championship with 31 goals in those 18 games although they have conceded 30 goals at the same time! Only Bristol City and Doncaster Rovers have conceded more goals on their travels.

Blackpool`s last match on their travels was last Tuesday when they came away with a disappointing 2-1 defeat by Derby County. Prior to that, all three away League games in February saw the Tangerines score three times against each opposition!

Top League scorer for Blackpool is Kevin Phillips who has scored 12 League goals! Gary Taylor-Fletcher is second top scorer with 7 goals while three players have 6 goals - Matt Phillips, Thomas Ince and Jonjo Shelvey.
