Head to Head - Peterborough -Vs- Bristol City
Vital Posh looks at previous matches between Peterborough United and Bristol City.
Peterborough United host Bristol City on Saturday looking to win their first game of the year while Bristol City who are far from impressive away from home look to extend the gap between themselves and the bottom three.
Both teams are struggling with form and are desperate for the points. Posh beat Bristol 2-1 last October in what was Derek McInnes` first home game in charge. That result left Bristol bottom of the League with just 6 points from 11 games while Posh were in 11th place with 16 points.
Posh and Bristol City have played each other on 33 occasions in the League with Bristol just edging it with 16 wins compared to 12 wins by Posh. Only five League games have ended in a draw.
Looking at results at Ninian Park and Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff have won on three occasions compared to four wins for Posh. There have been three draws so overall it is close between these two sides in the Welsh capital.

Last Time Out at London Road
The last time Posh entertained Bristol City was at the back end of the last disastrous season Posh were in the Championship. It did bring an intriguing match up between the recently appointed Posh manager Gary Johnson and the team he previously managed!
Going into this match, Posh were rock bottom; six points behind the team directly above them and 10 points from safety. Bristol were comfortably in mid-table in 12th place; 9 points off the play-offs but only 9 games remaining of the season.
Posh actually had the greater possession (56%) but were unable to create many chances during the game.
City made the better start and it was keeper Joe Lewis who was called into action first tipping over a Bradley Orr effort. After only 13 minutes, Chris Whelpdale limped out of the action after landing awkwardly and was replaced by loanee Kerrea Gilbert.
Nicky Maynard had the next chance but his effort didn`t trouble Lewis in the Posh goal. City full back Liam Fontaine next had an excellent effort parried by Lewis who was much the busier keeper as he then saved well from Danny Haynes.
The rest of the first half went the same way with Posh happy in possession but created very little while City were creating chances on a regular basis and you felt it was only a matter of time before the deadlock was broken.
Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Orr both had chances before half-time but each chance missed to goal.
Half-time: Peterborough United 0 - 0 Bristol City
No changes were made at half time but Posh did make the first change only 10 minutes into the second half. Youngster Nathan Koranteng was replaced by loanee Reuben Reid.
Gilbert had been providing some teasing crosses throughout the match but on each occasion, Craig Mackail-Smith couldn`t get on the end of it but it went out for a corner. Posh finally recorded their first attempt on target from the corner as Exodus Geohaghon was denied by Dean Gerken.
Hartley then had two chances to break the deadlock but his first hit the advertising boards at the top of the Moys End stand before hitting his second into the side netting.
Posh were finally getting more chances as CMS then struck the crossbar before another effort created by Gilbert set-up Josh Simpson but he couldn`t get the better of Gerken who saved well.
It was against the run of play that the Robins took the lead when an in-swinging corner from Hartley was nodded into the goal past Lewis by substitute CLARKSON. A goal similar to Cardiff`s second goal against Posh on Tuesday night!
Clarkson could`ve made it two just eight minutes later but he fired over when well placed.
Reuben Reid then beat two defenders only to see his cross to CMS diverted by Gerken for a corner. Exodus then headed the corner wide.
Lee Frecklington then had two efforts which were blocked as Posh looked to level the scores up. CMS had the final chance of the game but could only direct his shot over the bar.
