Derby Ram-raided

Peterborough United never do things the easy way and this match was no exception.

With both teams down to the bare bones it was Posh who came away with all 3 points following a stunning injury time strike from Grant McCann.

Both teams named a 15 year old striker on their bench with Jaanai Gordan-Hutton sitting on the Posh bench with Mason Bennett on the Rams bench. The latter of which did make his thrid appearance for Derby and he didn't look out of place. He looked quick and strong and a definite prospect in years to come. Posh's Gordan-Hutton was less unfortunate and remained on the bench but it would've given him exposure to something he can expect to experience over the next few years.

Posh have yet to keep a clean sheet this season and often concede early on. They are focussing more on this but it came as no surprise that Posh yet again went behind in the game on 28 minutes. Just four minutes later, Theo Robinson, who Chairman Darragh MacAnthony once said he'd go out and buy if boss Darren Ferguson wanted him only to be told he was not wanted, scored his second of the game.

If Posh were to get anythin out of this game, they needed to get a goal back before half time, and score they did. The impressive Paul Taylor was fed the ball following a determined run from Mark Little and he slotted the ball wide of keeper Fielding and in to the corner of the net.

Half-time: Posh 1 - 2 Rams

If there's one thing you can guarantee at a Posh game it would be goals and having seen three in the first half, you would have expected more in the second. And that is exactly what was served up after just 6 minutes after the re-start some hesitant defending by Derby allowed midfielder Tommy Rowe to get a foot on the ball to poke it past the static keeper and into the far corner of the goal.

Both teams had further half chances to take the lead but it was left to Posh skipper Grant McCann to seal the win following a freekick from left back Tom Kennedy just inside the Derby half which was nodded just outside the area for the awaiting McCann to hit his shot sweetly past Fielding for the winner.

Full-time: Posh 3 - 2 Rams

The result meant that 3 of the last 4 matches involving Posh have finished 3-2!

The result moves Posh up to 9th place on 22 points. Two points and two places behind Derby going into the International break.

Man of the match has to go to Paul Taylor for his non-stop running, his close control and scoring prowess...have we got ourselves an improved version of Craig MacKail-Smith?

Posh's next match see them travel to Europa League team Birmingham City on 19th November.
