Two goals in two minutes just after the half hour mark helped Watford to all 3 points in what was one of Peterboroughs worst performances of the season.
Posh got off to yet another disastrous start when conceding after only 4 minutes when Yeates fired in from the edge of the area in what was a carbon copy of Leeds Uniteds first goal against Posh last week!
Posh brought themselves level just 10 minutes later when Lee Frecklington withstood a challenge from the left-back before firing an unstoppable shot past keeper Loach.
Posh were struggling for their rhythm and were misplacing so many passes it was frustrating to watch at times. One of the most frustrating things of the whole match (and indeed one which happens every week) is Emile Sinclairs inability to jump to head the ball! His "lightening pace" is also wasted as he only realises what is happening 5 minutes later then everyone else so he needs his pace to catch up with play!! For the majority of the game, it is like we are playing with 10 men and it`s about time Sinclair was dropped to the bench.
Skipper Grant McCann was at fault for Watfords second and third goals as first he apparently tugged the shirt of Buaben who was not threatening the goal at all and went down like a sack of spuds! Talk about a soft penalty!! It was stupid of McCann to do it (if he did - Buaben was between my view and McCann so I couldn`t see it he did tug his shirt or not).
McCann also conceded the freekick that led to the third goal and as the freekick was lofted into the area, all the Posh players pushed out for off-side apart from one player - Grant McCann!!! That said, Jones could easily have come out to claim the ball or punch it away!
Faced with an uphill task, Posh continued to press and their pressure finally paid off six minutes before half time when Sinclair had the simplest of chances to bring Posh back into the game.
Unfortunately, Posh couldn`t find a way through Watford in the second half and it was surprising that Darren Ferguson didn`t make any changes sooner than he did. To bring striker David Ball on for McCann with just four minutes left of the game was criminal. Posh needed to change things around earlier in the game and Fergie seemed to be the only one that didn`t realise this!!
Overall it was a very disappointing game for Posh. With some very tough games coming up in November and having lost their last match, Posh could`ve done with a boost to keep their momentum going but with our next match away at league leaders Southampton on Tuesday night, Posh could find themselves looking over their shoulders at teams beneath them!
However, we must not forget how well Posh have done this season and that we have matched every team we`ve played. We need to ensure our work rate is kept top notch and we keep the ball on the ground and passing it around. What we must not do is keep lumping it forward to a 6 foot plus striker who doesn`t know how to head the ball or even jump!
