'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Posh - Down But Not Out!

And so it came to pass that Monday 5th April was the day that Peterborough United`s brief flirtation with football in the second tier came to an end.

All those words relating to attaining top flight football inside five years have something of a hollow ring to them and, shortly, we`ll sit down and give our own no-holds barred inquest o where the journey went so wrong. We`ll come out all guns blazing and give it a fans perspective.

However, until then we`re going to sit back and enjoy what is left of our Championship experience; after all it could be several years before we`re back in such exulted company.

Perhaps matters are best summed up by Barry Fry who is quoted as saying,

"We`re down but we enjoyed the experience."

I can`t help thinking that has masochistic overtures though .

Nevertheless, despite my original pessimism, there`s every reason to hope that the new man in charge, Gary Johnson, can turn the good ship Posh around and we`d like to believe that he inherits a club, from Jim Gannon, that is in far better shape than the one Mark Cooper left us with.

The attitude is better on the pitch and there have been some results that have out smiles on our faces, therefore it`ll be interesting to see how we perform against Leicester City this weekend with Gary Johnson in charge.

We may be down but we`ve still a lot of football to play between now and the end of the season, football that could be of some significance come August 2010!
