Posh - Another Defeat Darkens the Mood!

When Jon Stead, on loan from Ipswich Town, scored the only goal of the game yesterday, the mood darkened.

Despite some frantic attempts to get things back onto an even keel Posh were to suffer defeat number 20 of a season we`d hoped would prove to be so different.

With 34 games played, we have a mere 9 draws to our name and a pitiful 5 wins, in all honesty it is relegation form, is it not.

Miracles don`t happen very often and even in my lightest hours I can`t see Peterborough United being blessed with one, can you?

In his post match interview, with the local media, Jim Gannon was quick to point out the stark message that we`re doomed, explaining,

"This club is down. We should put ourselves out of our misery and accept it. To stay up, we`d have to get three times as many wins as we have done all season."

It`s not a nice message but one that is going to become reality very soon when not even mathematics can produce enough points for survival.

But, amongst the doom and gloom there`s more!

With Gannon following on from Mark Cooper who followed on from Darren Ferguson, any stability Posh seek in the managerial role could be blown out of the water with a single statement, from Gannon, indicating that he`s far from decided when it comes to plotting a return to the Championship next year, commenting,

"It won`t be an easy decision as to whether to stay."

Like we said, dark clouds are hanging over London Road!
