Posh - The Boyd Files (1)

I`m still trying to digest the news that George Boyd has jumped ship!

Yesterday my emotions went through the whole range. I was delighted to read that George had a gut feeling he`d stay with Posh, at least until the end of the season, despite the apparent ongoing interest from Middlesbrough.

Less than sixty minutes later, I was down in the dumps after discovering that George had received an offer from Nottingham Forest that was too good to turn down, a no-brainer I think he called it.

No I have no problems with George going, sitting back and thinking about it last night I came to the conclusion that it was always going to happen, a club like ours, a club heading back to League One after a disastrous season, was never going to tempt George to extend his contract.

Therefore, Barry Fry, when talking about not wanting to run George`s contract down and receiving nothing for the player, most certainly had a point. However, this morning sifting through the tabloids I`m a little aghast to read that if all goes well for George besides the River Trent he could sign a permanent deal, with Nottingham Forest, for as little as 1.5 million!

If you ask me, especially when you consider some of the cash that has been spent in recent years, somebody is going to get a right bargain and it pains me to say it but it looks as if Posh could, probably due to circumstances beyond their control, be the fall-guys.
