Posh - Joe Lewis Against the Odds!

It`s interesting to read all the tittle-tattle relating to Fabio Capello bemoaning to his close aides that he feels he`s only a goal keeper away from having a squad to win the World Cup!

With David James, Robert Green, Joe Hart, Paul Robinson and Scott Carson being the man protagonists in the race to grab the cherished green jersey for South Africa, I had secretly hoped that our own Joe Lewis would be given an opening or two to stake his claim.

In fact I`m wondering if our current predicament hasn`t hampered his chances.

Apart from a scintillating display, against Tottenham in the FA Cup, a display that saw both sets of supporters warmly applaud a barrage of saves, Joe`s chief claim to fame has been as the keeper who keeps for the bottom side in the Championship, a side that has conceded an avalanche of goals.

Therefore, my theory and one I`d like you to comment on, is that f Posh were riding on the crest of a wave and cruising in the upper reaches of the Championship, would Joe be more noticeable and hence have more chance of achieving that dream I cherished back in August?
