Posh - Gannon New Boss

After the shock news broke yesterday that Mark Cooper had been sacked after a mere 79 days in charge, we never even got around to pondering over who his likely replacement would be.

It`s probably a good job as well because news seems to be coming fast out of London Road at the moment; we seem to be getting a major story breaking every day.

There`s hardly been time for the seat in Mark Cooper`s office to get cold before the next incumbent of the role is welcomed in with open arms.

This morning the news agencies have declared that Jim Gannon is the man charged with mission impossible and saving our sorry backsides from plunging straight back into League One.

Gannon has previously been in charge at Stockport, where he did engineer an escape from relegation, and Motherwell.

His appointment, whilst still being digested by the Peterborough faithful, has been made to give him the maximum available time to engineer a rescue, an appointment that has had him crowing,

"It is a fantastic opportunity and I am excited."

At forty-one years of age Gannon has a little more managerial experience, at this type of level, than Cooper did but with the transfer window having now closed, he`s going t have to perform miracles with the squad that he`s inherited.

Here at Vital Posh, we wish him well!
