Knocked out of the FA Cup, emphatically in round three, Posh continue their league programme with a rearranged fixture against Sheffield Wednesday, at Hillsborough.
As like all fixtures now, it is a fixture that Mark Cooper and his side need to actively look towards winning if survival in this division is to be attained.
Last time out, against Derby County, Posh were beaten 3-0 but put up a spirited display, despite losing both centre-backs to red cards, that saw then get a standing ovation from the London Road crowd.
Those two red cards will affect Mark Cooper`s team selection for this fixture with both Ryan Bennett and Craig Morgan being suspended. However, he does have options, Exodus Geohaghan may be recalled and Gabriel Zakuani has intimated he`ll play through the pain barrier to bolster the cause. There is also the possibility that Charlie Lee could partner either of the aforementioned.
Jake Livermore, who impressed on his debut, is likely to continue in midfield and we expect Reuben Reid and Izale McLeod to also start.
As for Sheffield Wednesday, since appointing the sacked Preston North End manager, Alan Irvine, they`ve climbed out of the relegation places with a string of good performances.
Sheffield Wednesday will welcome back Luke Varney after his loan spell expired but will be without Jermaine Johnson who picked up an injury last time out.
Last time the two clubs met, on 15th August 2009 at London Road, Posh relied on an equaliser from Craig Mackail-Smith to ensure the points were shared.
As for a prediction, wins are few and far between for Posh this season, especially on our travels and the absence of Bennett and Morgan could hit us hard. If we can get off to a good start then the longer we can maintain a clean sheet the better but the omens are not good when you look at recent form and to be brutally honest I can`t see us getting much more than a draw, 0-0 or 1-1!
