'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Posh - Council Buy London Road!

I have to admit that I never really paid much attention to any talk of a new stadium.

With the current economic climate I`ve always thought any dreams of moving to London Road and constructing a brand new ground were pie-in-the-sky!

But, I have to admit that rumours about our future at London Road did worry me. Would we really have been forced out?

Therefore, it`s great news that the local council have decided to purchase the ground and some of the surrounding land to ensure the area thrives.

Too often local councils distance themselves for their football club with some not seeming to care if it goes to the wall. It`s a refreshing change to know that ours is well and truly behind the club and has visions of their ideas and our club prospering in the same climate.

Perhaps Darragh McAnthony sums it up more succinctly when he`s quoted as having remarked,

"This is a fantastic move to help secure the future of football in the city. We are keen to work with the council to ensure we have a first class stadium."

Let`s hope it is a stadium that will host, at a minimum, Championship level football!
