Forgive me for the late posting of a match report but, I suggest, like most Posh fans last night I was out on the razz.
It just had to be the done thing after we finally got that elusive second win of the season but in doing so we also managed to keep our first clean sheet of the season, heady days indeed.
Despite making two loan signings, in the shape of Bennett and Griffiths (both with a view to a permanent deal in January), neither got a starting place with Ferguson playing an eleven that had a solid look to it with summer signings Frecklington, Diagouraga and Rowe taking centre stage.
With London Road filled with 8,051 supporters, disappointing again, it was Posh that had the better of the first half.
Indeed, it was surprising that we had to wait until the 25th minute for the first goal of the game but the wait was worth it when George Boyd hit a volley into the net from just outside the box for his seventh goal of the season.
In injury time Craig Mackail-Smith doubled the lead when he capitalize don a mistake by the Scunthorpe defence to race clear and slot home from the edge of the area.
It made a nice change to be going in at the break leading comfortably and I guess Darren thought so to as he had no need to introduce any substitutes.
The second half saw much of the same with Posh pushing for a third goal but it wasn`t to come until the seventy-eighth minute and once again it was to come from George Boyd.
This time George slotted home his eighth goal of the season, from the penalty spot, after Williams had been penalized for pushing Lee.
At 3-0 it was game over, three points for Posh and a good confidence booster ahead of our trip to Blackburn Rovers for the Carling Cup clash in midweek.![]()
