'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bristol City v Posh (Preview)

The Championship finally gets back up and running this weekend and Posh will be looking to bring to an end a poor run of results.

Darren Ferguson will take his team to the West Country to take on Bristol City in a game that Peterborough need to get something from. After three defeats on the trot our position in the relegation places is giving cause for concern.

A draw would be viewed as the minimum result but a win would be most welcome.

With the reserves having beaten Southend United 5-0 in midweek, Darren may be looking to make a few changes and shuffle the pack.

We very much doubt that Boyd, Mackail-Smith of Mclean will be affected but Darren may make changes at the heart of the defence. Indeed, there is the suggestion that Krystian Pearce, on loan from Birmingham, may well make his first Championship start for Posh.

Speaking about the possibility and the lack of action he`s seen, young Pearce, speaking to the local media, has remarked,

'I did expect this move to Peterborough to give me the chance to play first team football. As a young player, I want to play as much as I can and it has been frustrating not to be involved."

'I know that in football you are not going to play week in, week out and I have had to bide my time. I have been to the manager and asked him what I can do to break into the team and he gave me some good advice."

'I am just knuckling down in training to try and show what I can do. It is difficult but you have to do your job regardless. If the two centre-halves in front of you are playing well there is not a lot you can do other than wait for a chance and then take it when it comes."

If he does play though, will it be alongside Zakuani or alongside Morgan?

Another position where there may be a change is left back. Tom Williams is nursing an injury picked up in training and Jamie Day may well replace him.

Although the table doesn`t lie, as Brian Clough once said, Posh need to get a result and the Bristol City manager, Gary Johnson is perfectly aware of that when he comments, ahead of the game,

'Peterborough will probably be happy to go home with a point, but I don't expect them to play for a draw and we have to be aware of their attacking threat."

'They have three quality strikers for this level of football. George Boyd, Aaron Mclean and Craig Mackail-Smith are very mobile, very hard-working and they have been scoring goals so we have to be ready for them."

It promises to be an intriguing encounter and I have this feeling that we may well come back to London Road with all three points.

I can feel it in my waters!

Don't bank on it! City have been superb at home this season. 4 wins and a draw from 5 backs that up.
