Posh - Zakuani on Being Dropped!

Turning up at London Road, on Tuesday evening, I probably wasn`t the only one to be surprised at the news that Gabriel Zakuani wasn`t in the squad.

At first I surmised that it was probably down to injury but it was later confirmed that was not the case.

Rumours of a bust up with Darren Ferguson then swept through cyber-world but they have been swiftly denied by all involved and it appears that the simple reason was tactical.

Ahead of the fixture against Nottingham Forest, a game where it is expected Zakuani will return, the defender has spoken about Tuesday night to the local media, remarking,

'I was surprised to be left out of the side and of course I don't like not playing, but the manager is paid to make these decisions and he took the time to explain to me why he did it."

'It was more tactical than anything. He wanted defenders who could bring the ball out of defence and offer a bit more going forward, whereas I've always said I'm an out and out defender."

'It's not easy watching matches, but I stand by the manager and I want him to get us out of the trouble we are in. All the players are right behind him."

Exactly what we wanted to hear, a united front!
