Blackpool 2 Posh 0
Was it the bracing sea-air that saw or recent revival ended in a crazy twelve minute spell?
Were the starting eleven dreaming of a night in Blackpool, a few rides at the Pleasure Beach, a quick stroll around the ballroom or a trip up the famous tower?
It must have been something like that because in the space of eleven minutes Blackpool had raced into a two goal lead and all the good work done against Reading and Newcastle was confined to the history books.
Ignore the fact that Blackpool are on a fine run and beat a far stronger Newcastle side than we did, we were utter tosh until it was too late.
As early as the third minute the Blackpool skipper, Jason Euell, put the skids under us with a header that beat Joe Lewis.
However amongst the early malaise we could have gotten back into the game but their keeper did well to deny Craig Mackail-Smith who looked to burst the net with a thumping header.
Sadly, the ex-Fulham winger, Hameur Bouazza blew away our 'kiss-me-quick` hats with a storming shot. From an impossible angle the French-Algerian unleashed a pile-driver that fairly flew past Joe Lewis in the Posh goal after having skipped past Russell Martin.
As for the remainder of the match, Posh huffed and puffed but I`ll readily admit those very attractions I accused the Posh starting eleven of dreaming about were becoming more attractive by the minute as the realisation hit us that we were destined for a defeat.
