Leicester v Posh Preview!

Leicester v Posh Preview!

Luck seems to have deserted Posh just recently!

Over at Loftus Road on Saturday the celebrations went on for what seemed like ever before the realisation hit us that it had been wiped out due to offside.

Indeed, it`s the third time this season, in the Championship, that Craig Mackail-Smith has had a goal disallowed, he could quite easily be forgiven that there is some sort of vendetta against him.

However, on the eve of our clash with Leicester, Craig refuses to get downbeat about such things, instead remarking to local media about the disallowed goal on Saturday,

'It's very frustrating and it was a great shame as we were pushing hard for all three points and probably deserved to win."

'I felt I was level with Shaun Batt when he shot and there was a defender in front of him so when I gambled on the goalkeeper spilling the ball I felt I was on-side."

'I haven't seen the replay on television, but several people who have done, told me I was at worst level with the defender."

'That's the way things are going for us at the moment, but there is no point in dwelling on it and no point in having a go at the assistant referee."

'We are all human and we all make mistakes, although it would be nice if one of the tight decisions went in our favour."

'I've now had more goals disallowed than I've scored this season!"

'But if we keep playing like this we will be fine. We have a big game tomorrow at Leicester so we have to forget about the last game and concentrate on the next one.'

Exactly Craig and with a poor return of only three points from a possible eighteen, three points against Leicester City remains our prime objective.

The signs were there on Saturday that Posh can not only live with the better teams this division has to offer but also thrive. However, Darren Ferguson, also talking to the local media, believes that to do so we need to show a nasty streak explaining,

'The performance was good and we deserved the three points, but we can't buy a break in front of goal."

'We keep saying it, but we do need to get a bit nastier, not in terms of kicking the opposition, more in showing a bit more ruthlessness.'

As for the squad, it looks as if we`ll have to make do without Charlie Lee on Tuesday evening after he picked up an ankle injury in training on Friday and any chances Ben Wright had of seeing some first team action also went astray with a similar injury.

Here at Vital Posh we expect Peterborough to line up as follows at the Walkers Stadium on Tuesday evening,

Lewis, Martin, Zakuani, Morgan, Williams, Whelpdale, Diagouraga, Frecklington, Boyd, Mackail-Smith, Mclean.

Come on lads let`s make it 7th time lucky!

And as for the luck issue, let`s hope she`s smiling on us!
