'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Posh - Barry Is Spot On (Again!)

I`ve got a lot of time for Barry Fry and I have to admit having a lot of time for the guy when he was in charge at Birmingham City.

Some might liken him to marmite! You either love him or hate him but there`s no doubt that the guy did his utmost to keep our club alive when we were in a right old perilous state.

Therefore, when our Barry goes off on one his rants I`m more than willing to listen and more than willing to applaud him because ninety-nine per cent of the time he`s spot on.

With Posh not having made the start we dreamed of and with some tricky fixtures coming up, starting with QPR a week on Saturday, Barry has moved quickly to round on those who are quick to offer criticism of what has happened in recent weeks.

Firing from the hip, but making perfect sense, Barry had this to say to the local media an din particular the Peterborough Evening Telegraph,

'Darragh MacAnthony has achieved more in three years than those in charge for the previous 72 years in the club's history achieved between them."

'One fan moaning about his achievements, his policies and his efforts is one fan too many. Darragh is an Irishman who lives in Spain and yet his passion for Peterborough is far greater than most Peterborians."

'He has put the city never mind the football club on the map and yet there are still people who find things to moan about."

'What he has achieved since arriving here is quite simply astonishing. It has cost him plenty financially, but he is committed to taking the club to heights that would have been thought impossible when he first walked through the door."

'He has spent £4.5 million on players, including £1.1 million when Keith Alexander was manager. He has funded the arrival of players like Craig Mackail-Smith, Aaron Mclean and George Boyd who have lit up our stadium for two and a half seasons."

'I heard a prominent radio journalist moan that Posh are struggling in the Championship because we didn't buy any players in the summer, but the chairman actually splashed out £1 million on three players and paid their wages in May and June which is highly unusual."

'We haven't just won two promotions, we have won them playing great football while scoring almost 100 goals a season. None of it would have been possible without the chairman."

Exactly Barry, without Darragh, and indeed you, there`d be no Posh, there`d be no London Road and there`d definitely be no Championship football.

I guess there`s just no pleasing some people is there?
