Two of the three strugglers in the Championship came face to face at London Road on Tuesday evening, in the Carling Cup.
With Posh and Ipswich both having taken a miserly one point from a possible twelve in the Championship, the Carling Cup offered brief respite from those aforementioned troubles in the league.
Darren Ferguson picked a strong side for the clash but it was to be the visitors who were to draw first blood.
In the 14th minute Tamas Priskin put the visitors ahead with a shot from close range.
Indeed, Priskin could have put the game out of our scope in the 25th minute when Zakuani conceded a penalty with a challenge on him, thankfully, Joe Lewis pulled off a great save to keep the score at 1-0.
The let-off gave Posh heart and in the 32nd minute we were level courtesy of a great goal from Lee Frecklington from a shot from outside of the box.
And that was how it stayed until half time.
The second half saw neither side create a clear cut chance early on and Roy Keane made two changes replacing Counago and Priskin with Walters and Wickham, five minutes before the hour mark.
Just before the hour mark, Richard Wright produced a great save to deny George Boyd. However, four minutes after the hour mark Posh took the lead when George Boyd scored firing home from the edge of the area.
The action continued to swing from end to end but Posh held firm with Zakuani and Morgan defending resolutely. Thankfully, we`re now into round three!
Any chance of a big name - Chelsea, United, or Liverpool, preferably at home!
