Posh 0 Spurs 4

Our second 'glamour` match, against Premier League opposition in a hectic friendly schedule, saw Posh beaten 4-0 by a strong Spurs side on Tuesday night.

Following on from the loss to Aston Villa, Posh fans were hoping that this game would see us run our Premier League opposition a little closer, but it wasn`t to be.

For the fixture, Darren Ferguson was able to recall Joe Lewis and Aaron Mclean but Gabriel Zakuani and Craig Mackail-Smith were still missing.

Spurs, leading by a first half goal from Darren Bent, put Posh to the sword with three second half goals from Jermain Defoe, Luka Modric and Roman Pavlyuchenko.

However, Posh can look back upon two efforts that crossed the line but were disallowed, the first for a marginal offside decision and the second because the ball had gone out of play.

Positives on the night were the performances of Diagoura, Pearce, Rowe and Mclean, all of whom did well.

Perhaps the biggest difference between the two sides though was that Spurs were far better at ball retention and changing the tempo.

Despite the 4-0 loss, Posh showed enough to suggest they`ll not be over-awed by life in the Championship.

Our thanks go to Tottenham for bringing such a strong squad and providing us with top-notch opposition.

Next up is a double header with Posh entertaining Fulham at London Road this Saturday whilst also sending an XI to Kenilworth Road to provide Luton Town with some opposition. Let`s hope we fare better than last night.
