Posh - After Second Stockport Capture!

After Ryan Bennett signed a new contract with Grimsby, it was inevitable that Posh would have to look elsewhere to bolster their defence as they seek to launch their Championship campaign.

According to the `Bush Telegraph` the latest subject of our investigations, and probably one more for the future than now, is the Stockport County defender, Josh Thompson.

Thompson is a mere seventeen years of age and has only made six appearances for his club, however, his pedigree is such that he`s already spent time with Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion, both of whom are keen to capture this emerging talent.

Speaking about the player, Darren Ferguson is quoted as remarking, in the local media,

'We were aware of Josh before he played against us. He's one of the top young defenders in the country right now, along with Ryan Bennett at Grimsby.

'We've made an offer and I believe we have a good chance of getting him. He was on trial at United last season and at West Brom, and I know both clubs were impressed.

'But as far as I know we are the only ones to have made a bid so far. Josh is our sort of player. He's very talented and yet capable of great improvement.'

But, with dad Alex also showing an interest, Posh may find it hard to get the youngster on a permanent deal.

Let`s wait and see shall we!

Robbing poor club, is that in the spirit of the game, when a club is down and in administration, don't help them, steal their best players, thats they way to go.
